Serfdom
And on this day on planet earth it seems to find itself being that day
of the sun, day of God again according to that Gregorian calendar.
That day of rest, or is that Saturday, the sabbath. And this day also
seems to find itself being that day of mothers according to that
Gregorian calendar as well. And yet even when it seems as if the world
is falling down all around me, and this computer that I find myself on
seems as if it is stuck in pc hell and barely wants to computer, I
still find myself blaghing for some reason. And so that random thought
for this day is that word serfdom. And what exactly does that word
mean? Does Wikipedia, that internet bible dictionary have n entry for
this word. As I found myself saying this word the other day in that
phrase "Oh, you could be a serf, or I am serf, or we could all be
serfs" as in slaves to the landlords, working for the lord of the land
just to pay rent, just to keep a roof over ones head, one paycheck away
form homelessness, sometimes. And it seems as if the whole of planet
earth can be based on this word sometimes, the idea that the basic
human necessity s shelter is not free. And whose idea is it that the
land is for sale anyway. And humanity could ll be strangers in this
land of planet earth. Squat the world, housing is a human right. And
so Wikipedia does have an entry for this word, and according to their
website, Serfdom is "is the socio-economic status of unfree peasants
under feudalism, and specifically relates to Manorialism. It was a
condition of bondage or modified slavery which developed primarily
during the High Middle Ages in Europe. Serfdom was the enforced labour
of serfs on the fields of landowners, in return for protection and the
right to work on their
leased fields. Now that's interesting. No one is free when others re
oppressed. And what, if anything does this have to do with a No Police
State. Have great serfing day.
